Hello readers! I know I don’t keep up with this blog as often as I should, but I’m planning on fixing that, and I’m starting with my “Send Me to The Gathering” series! Now, you may be wondering what the hell I’m talking about – I’ll explain!
What’s the deal?
So, I go to St. Lawrence College, and I’m part of the Advertising and Marketing Communications program, right? Right! It’s fantastic and has given me so many opportunities, specifically the opportunity to possibly go to The Gathering 2020 in Banff, Alberta. To learn more about The Gathering, check out this post. It’s an amazing chance to volunteer at a huge marketing conference and network with some of the top people in the branding world.
The keyword here, though, is “possibly.” I must improvise, adapt and overcome my way there by winning my spot in a challenge against some other students. Eight students can go on this trip, and I think about fifteen are trying. It’s scary, but I’m doing it! Now that’s where the blog comes in.
What’s the challenge?
The challenge is (NOT!) simple. I need to create a marketing campaign that will generate engagement. Some people are doing videos, some are doing guerilla marketing, and I’m blogging. With the content I create and post to my blog, I need to hope I get engagement. I need views, clicks, likes, shares and comments. Any kind of trackable engagement with my blog and other social media accounts will put me ahead in the challenge and help me get my spot.
What’s the content?
The content is my favourite part of this whole challenge because I get to create anything I want. As a copywriter, I am always writing about other people’s stuff, but now it’s all my own. I’m keeping this series focused on a few key elements.
- Personal Selling
- And more!
The type of posts will vary so you (hopefully) won’t get bored. It’s important to me that you guys like the content because I need your help. I’ve got planned:
- How-to posts,
- Personal essays,
- Short stories,
How can you help?
I need you, my wonderful, lovely readers, to engage with my content. From today until November 15th, all the content I post will be for this challenge, and if you guys read it, please like, comment, share or click through the links to another post. Every view, click, like, comment, follow, and share helps me. To help me, even more, check out my social media. I have all my social media links on the sidebar, and any engagement on those accounts count toward my challenge. I’ll be posting about this blog and content, so you’ll know it’s me.
To sweeten the deal, I promise if I win a spot, I will blog all about my time at The Gathering as well as what I learned there. I will also ask you – my incredible readers – to add your content ideas in the comment section on these posts. I promise to review and write the content for you all to read. Thank you for reading guys and keep clicking!
